NEW PASTOR AND A NEW BEGINNING AT BETHEL AFRICAN METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH – 2-4 Auburn Street, Paterson N.J. Ph.# 973/523-4073
In April 2005, Reverend Allan Boyer accepted the appointment as the pastor to Bethel AME Church in Paterson, New Jersey and brought with him a spirit of love, encouragement and most importantly a vision for the New Bethel AME Church’.
The congregation received Reverend Boyer and his family with a spirit of love, commitment and a willing heart to become disciples. The congregation adopted Reverend Boyer’s vision – The New Bethel AME Church.
Today, under the leadership of Reverend Allan Boyer, Bethel AME Church has the following: Bethel Choir; Bethel Men's Choir; Children Choir and also, very important for the children, a Sunday school program. And, the congregation has grown by 20 % .
Reverend Allan Boyer is very passionate about youth within the community and wanted to encourage their involvement in the activities of the Sunday services therefore has implemented a Fourth Sunday program that is conducted by the youth of the congregation.
August will be a very exciting month for Reverend Allan Boyer and New Bethel because of its special youth program – Decision 2005. This program has been designed to evangelize to the young people within the community of Paterson. It is a three day program – August 19 through August 21 – solely for the purpose of teaching young people to work as a team and to fellowship with each other and most importantly to make Godly decisions that will be have a positive impact on their lives. Activities will include entertainment and friendly competitive competitions. Decision 2005 will be hosted in the courtyard at Bethel AME Church and anticipates 50 plus youth participants from New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
Reverend Allan Boyer is extremely enthusiastic and excited about the growth that is happening at Bethel A.M.E. Church. He will continue serving the community and the work of the outreach program associated with New Bethel. His mission is to educate, nurture and encourage the spiritual growth of his congregation, its families and the region.
